Rachel Boden was born and raised in Kettering, Ohio, and grew up attending Fairmont as a member. Rachel has degrees in music, math, and English education, all of which were obtained during a period of discernment (and hiding from God’s call!). Though originally pursuing a career as a public school teacher, after her work as the Interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator in 2013, Rachel fell in love with teaching others about God and helping people of all ages explore their faith. In 2015, Rachel finally paid attention to God’s not-so-subtle nudges and became Fairmont’s part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator, expanding this role to full-time Director of Children’s Ministry and Outreach in 2017. Rachel is thrilled to now be growing her education ministry further to include all children and youth of Fairmont, and can’t wait to see what God has planned.
Rachel lives in Kettering with her dog, Josie, and her cat, Olivia. In addition to her work at Fairmont, Rachel coaches seventh and eighth grade field hockey at Van Buren Middle School and Kettering Middle School. Rachel is also a member of Women Writing for a Change. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, spending time with friends and family, and playing with Josie and Olivia.
