Casual Worship at Fairmont
Fairmont’s casual worship service at 8:30 A.M. on Sundays offers an opportunity to worship, praise, honor, and thank God in the relaxed and intimate setting of our Fellowship Hall.
The casual service is for people of all ages, backgrounds, and stages of life. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, friendly, and inviting. Socializing is done before and after the service. Many friendships have been made here. Many families enjoy this early service as it allows them to worship together. Others attend because they appreciate the contemporary music. Still others choose this service because they are early-risers, have hectic schedules, or enjoy the informality.
Worshippers dress comfortably and enjoy a bagel, cookie, or doughnut with a cup of coffee, tea, or juice before, during, and after the worship service. Children remain throughout the service.
Music plays an important role in the casual service. Worship songs are led by our Praise Band with vocalists, electric keyboard, drums, guitars, and harmonica leading worshippers in upbeat, contemporary songs with words on a monitor. The congregation sings along with the Praise Band.
One of our ministers gives the sermon from the floor and not from a stage or pulpit. The sermons often include light-hearted interaction between pastor and people. The sermons help people to grow in their love of God, to learn God’s word, and are relevant to today. Our praise band leader gives a short message, children’s talk, or devotional to help transition into the minister’s sermon. The sacrament of Holy Communion is served once a month by intinction, usually the first Sunday of the month, and all are welcome.
Come worship with us! We look forward to meeting you.
